ConnectCR helps the continuing evolution and revitalization of downtown Cedar Rapids by developing Cedar Lake. This unique urban lake is viewed by more than 100,000 commuters on I-380 every day.
Our plans call for a boardwalk to extend out over the lake, offering visitors an opportunity to walk out over the lake and experience it beyond the water's edge.
Kayakers and canoeists already enjoy the peacefulness out on Cedar Lake. New launch and landing docks, including an ADA-approved dock, will enhance the experience for all paddle sports enthusiasts.
For generations, many fishing memories have been made at Cedar Lake. Local anglers will enjoy new fishing jetties-- giving them additional access points to enjoy their pastime.
We are committed to protecting and enhancing the wetlands on the north shore of the lake. Informational signage along the trail will educate visitors about the park's diverse plants and wildlife in the area.
Other plans for Cedar Lake include enhanced park entrances, a new nature-based playground area and floating islands. The captivating transformation of Cedar Lake will invite people to stop and experience its natural beauty.
